A Letter to Myself About Growing Up

For our second project in the Minor in Writing, we were asked to pick a piece of writing that meant something special to us. We were then instructed to transform this piece, or repurpose it, to fit in another medium. The writing I chose was a journal entry that I wrote before coming to college. The entry detailed the stress and anxiety I was feeling over growing up and the impending adulthood that stood before me. I decided to create a letter to my adolescent self about the future and everything I have learned since that journaly entry was written. The chosen medium was Thought Catalog, an online place where individuals can post their relatable non-fiction and thought.

This project actually helped me to learn a lot about myself as a person. Writing to my high school self really gave me a sense of how much I have grown, even if I don't always feel grown up.
